Concrete Driveway and Patio Questions, Answered Plainly

FAQ

Questions and answers

Who actually does the concrete work if I use Comweak Concrete?

A local provider does the work. Comweak Concrete is a referral service. We do not pour, cut or finish concrete. We connect you with independent providers in our network. You then agree on the job, the price and the schedule with the provider. Ask for the details in writing, and keep a copy with your project notes.

How do I choose a good concrete provider?

Ask each provider the same questions. Do they carry insurance? Can they show past flatwork, which means flat concrete like slabs and drives? Will they put the price in writing? Compare two or three written quotes side by side. Keep each one in a folder. A clear, itemized quote is a good sign.

What should I have ready before I call?

Photos first, then call. Take pictures of the spot from a few angles. Jot down rough size, such as length and width. Note any slope, drainage trouble or old concrete that must come out. Add what you want, like a plain broom finish or a stamped pattern. Providers can give a better estimate with these notes in hand.

When is the ideal time of year to pour concrete here?

Concrete likes mild weather. Cold snowy winters and freeze-thaw cycles, when water freezes and thaws again and again, make cold pours harder. Many homeowners plan for spring through early fall. Schedules vary by provider and by weather. Request a callback to check provider availability, and ask how they protect fresh concrete from sudden cold.

How long does a new driveway or patio take?

It depends on size and prep. Old concrete may need to come out first. The base needs to be level and packed. Then the pour, finish and curing happen. Curing is the slow drying that makes concrete strong. You may need to wait days before driving on a drive. Ask your provider for a clear timeline.

How much does a new concrete driveway cost?

Costs vary by job. In the U.S., plain concrete often runs from about $6 to $12 per square foot. Stamped work usually costs more. Removal, grading and thickness change the price. Treat these as rough ranges only. Get a written quote from each provider before you decide.

Can a provider help with stamped concrete patios?

Yes. Many providers in our network do stamped concrete patios. Stamped concrete is poured, then pressed with patterns that look like stone or brick. Ask to see photos of past patterns and colors. Ask how they seal the surface. Sealing helps it handle freeze-thaw weather. Bring your own photos of ideas you like.

Do you handle repairs or insurance claims?

This site is for new concrete projects. For concrete driveway repair or foundation repair experts, you would want a different kind of service. Insurance is separate too. Some policies may cover sudden damage, so check your policy. Providers can often help document damage for a claim. Keep photos, notes and quotes together as a paper trail.
